About Us and About Or Bereshit
There are certain hours, early in the morning or at sunset, when "Or Bereshit" descends upon the three wooden cabins, caressing the flower beds, the fruit trees, and the quiet corners around. This is the moment when the light washes over Amirim's green grove in patches of color, touches the water in the fish pond, and sends air into the lungs, making us pause and breathe for a moment.
This is a magical time when you can set the routine aside, sit before the view, wrap yourself in a luxurious blanket or the soft towel waiting by the pool, and feel a slightly different kind of vacation—a disconnection from the everyday and true tranquility. An opportunity to rest, read, sip good wine, indulge in a pleasant treatment, or simply be. It's a time to fall in love.

We are Debbie and Shalom Aharonov
We will welcome you to "Or Bereshit" – our cabin complex that hosts couples, families, and travelers from Israel and around the world. The complex received a 9.7/10 rating from the global Booking.com website and repeatedly brings us together with a beloved clientele who return every year.
Our story begins far from Amirim, which is now our home, on the other side of the country. We grew up together, fell in love, and each worked in our respective fields – Shalom in management and engineering, and Debbie – a glass artist and owner of an art studio. We built a home and raised a wonderful family.
Within our hearts lived a dream that was shared by both of us.
The Dream
A Dream That Became a Home in the North
A dream of a calm life, amidst a green landscape that feels as if it's only ours. A dream of birds chirping and changing seasons, between snow and summer sunsets. A dream of creation from nothing, of inspiration and fulfillment, of meeting people and joyful hosting.
When our own fledglings left the nest, and as we entered our fifth decade of life, we decided to pack our bags and move here. We purchased the guesthouse complex where we had stayed years ago and rolled up our sleeves. Slowly, tree by tree, brick by brick, we built a home here for a different kind of vacation—one that allows you to breathe, indulge, forget the worries of daily life, and enjoy every moment.
We re-established Debbie's studio and gallery here and wove her creations into and alongside the cabins – thus adding color, interest, and a personal statement to every corner.
With the surrounding mountains inspiring us, we created a place for you where a vacation is a collection of small experiences, each meticulously thought out. From uncompromising hospitality to cleanliness, order, comfort, and pleasantness – accompanying everyone who comes to stay with us.

The Way to Amirim
So This Is How It Began
At the beginning of our fifth decade of life, we decided to seek a change from the busy and frantic pace of life characteristic of central Israel residents, and embark on a completely new path.

A Vacation That Became a Decision
We didn't realize how stressed we were until we went, as was our habit, on a guesthouse vacation in the North, and as always, in the magical settlement of Amirim. When body and soul are at rest and the mind is free from daily worries, thoughts and dreams emerge freely. We chatted about the pressures and difficulties and what our future would look like – and then, in a flash, the solution arrived. We looked at each other: Why don't we move to the North of Israel tomorrow?

The Opportunity Was Waiting Right Here
We immediately started looking for opportunities in the Amirim area, and we didn't realize how close it was. The owner of the guesthouse where we were staying told us that her twin sister and her husband had listed their property for sale a few days earlier – a house and two cabins with a stunning view. We went to see it and fell in love at first sight. The decision to purchase and move was mutual, immediate, and without hesitation.

Tree by Tree, Brick by Brick
We told our family and friends and went through the community's acceptance process. We purchased the property and moved into one of the cabins; concurrently, we built our home, added another cabin, meticulously upgraded and designed all three, and built a gallery and glass studio within the complex.
A Small Curiosity
A Small Curiosity or a Guiding Hand?
On that fateful day when we decided to move, we returned to our home in Mazkeret Batya, opened the photo album, and found pictures of a previous stay at the "Or Bereshit" guesthouse in Amirim. Upon checking the date with the owners, we discovered to our astonishment that we had been their very first guests – the first couple to stay in the cabin immediately after its construction was completed.
Today, that cabin serves as our private bedrooms.
Our Philosophy
"God is in the small details"
We, Debbie and Shalom Aharonov, hosts to tourists from Israel and around the world, have embraced this saying. This 'wonder' occurs during everyday events and brings us accumulating pleasure, contentment, and happiness. These are truly the good things in life.
We were not content with just the natural view of the mountains and the Sea of Galilee visible from the settlement and the guesthouses. Our attention, in everything related to the "Or Bereshit" cabins, inside and out, and of course the quality of professional service we provide to our guests, is based on and operates according to this philosophy.
We invite you to leave the worries of daily life behind, to come and be renewed, to enjoy and be thrilled, and to be filled with good energy.
